Reno to Vegas in an E.V.-Unexpected Conclusions

I expected that I would dislike driving our E.V. on a long distance trip to Vegas, because I thought that the charging time would be excessive. For the most part, I was wrong. Our Tesla proved quicker to charge than I predicted.

Here is the amount of time we spent in each location.

Hawthorne-22 minutes

Tonopah-23 minutes

Beatty-16 minutes

Las Vegas-20 minutes

At the first three stops, our Tesla was done before we were ready to go. It was only at the Las Vegas stop that we had to wait for the Tesla. All in all, electric charging was not the hassle I thought it would be.

My only quibble with our E. V. occurred at the beginning of the trip. The Tesla directed us on less-traveled roads from Reno to Hawthorne. While this may have saved us a few minutes, it meant there were no places to stop for snacks (and more importantly restrooms) for a couple of hours. If we had been traveling with young children, this could have been problematic. Luckily, this is an easy problem to resolve by checking the prospective route with more care next time.
